Hi, we’re Sarah & Chris and we own Bailey’s Floor Care. We live in Thornton, just outside of Coalville, Leicestershire and between us we have a rowdy bunch of 6 children. Thankfully, they are all grown up now, well most of them! So we live in peace most of the time.
We’ve lived in Thornton since 2008 and love the village with its shop, church, two pubs, working men’s club and a reservoir with a walk around it to die for – definitely something we’d recommend doing on a summer’s afternoon. Before that, we lived in Leicester but when they put CCTV up at the local primary school we both decided it was time to move!
We are a family run business and were established on the 15th May 2000 coming from a contract cleaning background. As we expanded our contract cleaning business we took on carpet cleaning as it ‘fitted’ with what we were doing and we were being asked “can you…” so we did.
Cleaning carpets soon expanded to cleaning fabric & leather suites, then on to rugs before learning how to clean and restore vinyl, Amtico & Karndean, Marmoleum as well as both natural stone and man-made tiles, which led onto out-door stone, so patios and driveways. It then made sense for us to also start offering wood floor sanding and restoration – so we did!
What became very obvious to us was the fact that there is a variety of knowledge and skills amongst our competitors ranging from guys cleaning carpets part-time using a vax-type machine right through to high-end companies who were charging a fortune to clean carpets. We decided to base our growing business on providing clients with the best service we possibly could. This would include using all the knowledge along with the best products and equipment to do the technical bits but to also do the other important bit – Client Care, delivering exceptional service, giving our clients value in the work we do. This became a passion and a core value of our business that we still insist on today.
Of course, all this has meant that our business has grown significantly with us running multiple vans and employing staff as well as moving the business from our home in 2010 into an industrial unit in Markfield, the next village from home, so not too far away.
We cover a large geographical area, more or less the East Midlands but more specifically we cover Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. A large area! This all stems back to when we lived in Leicester, Chris didn’t want to travel for any more than an hour to get to his first job in the mornings, which basically covered Leicestershire. Now we are based in Markfield, Leicestershire, we’re literally a three-minute drive from Jct 22 of the M1 and with the road network around us we can get a fair distance in an hour!
Now our family has grown up the pressure to provide has eased. We are now focused on our future, of course, we are still mindful of our family but we are also enjoying more time together with holidays and weekends away. We are also more focused than ever in providing our clients with the best service we possibly can. We no longer do the technical work, we employ staff to do that and our technicians are achieving amazing levels of service for our clients. We know this through the feedback our clients give us – so something is working!
We are so excited to see what the future holds for us and our business and to see where we will be in ten years’ time, hopefully, you will be with us to experience that.
