Marble Floor Cleaning and Polishing
Can you take a look at cleaning our Marble Floor tiles… and can you also make it shine like it used to?
Of course we can – well, most of the time anyway! We recently did a demonstration on a clients’ Marble floor cleaning and polishing it to show what marble floor tiles could and should look like. Here’s a photo that clearly shows a dull floor with a very shiny patch! Our client was out at the dentist when we had finished and having chatted with the electrician, who was also doing a bit of work in the house, he accused us of putting something ‘on’ the floor to give it a shine…
Marble Floor Polishing – How we do it!
How Dare He… We’re Professionals You Know! With a laugh we spent the next 15 minutes explaining – over a cuppa – that we used industrial diamond encrusted pads to polish the shine back on the floor. We did this using a multi-step approach finishing off with a stone polishing powder to make the little patch we did sparkle.
Before I got back to the office our client had been on the phone and was over the moon with what we’d done and had booked the rest of the job in – happy days for all of us. So, we’re going back in a couple of months to revive the shine, repair a couple of cracks as well and to fill a couple of divots in the stone from stool feet. All this will give our client the WOW factor back to her Marble Floors.
We got the inevitable question – How long will it last? Truth is that the shine will fade. I guarantee it! As long as you walk on it then the shine will fade. This is because of the teeny tiny scratches on the marble caused by every day foot traffic. But this wasn’t the major cause for the loss of shine on this floor… you can tell this by all the spots and the uniform dullness across the marble floor. You see, Marble, Travertine, Limestone etc are all sensitive to acidic based products and spills such as lemon, wine in fact – anything that’s on the acidic side of the pH scale… it’ll etch into the surface of the stone leaving it dull and ugly. This is why the shine disappears!
