Bailey’s Rug Cleaning Service
At Bailey’s Floor Care, we have been cleaning rugs since the turn of the century, giving us a deep understanding of the safe and proper cleaning methods required for your rugs.
We dry your rugs in our Temperature and Humidity Controlled drying room
Having your rugs cleaned will not only make your rugs fresher and brighter but also help to revive their natural feel and colour enhancing any room they are placed in.
Unlike other companies, we’ll choose the right process that is best suited for your specific rug type avoiding the use of harsh chemicals, bleaching agents or other hazardous products that could potentially damage the fibres or ruin the colour. Before cleaning your rugs we conduct a thorough audit and discuss any areas of concern that you may have, providing you with service options tailored to your needs.
You Rugs Are in Trustworthy Hands
With over 20 years of experience and having cleaned thousands of rugs during that time, our team at Bailey’s has encountered and successfully dealt with various situations. Rest assured that your rugs are safe in our hands, and from collection to delivery, they will receive the utmost care and the perfect rug spa treatment available.
One of the primary and crucial steps in rug cleaning is removing the ground-in dry soil from the base of the rug. This is accomplished using various methods, including air dusting and traditional beating techniques.
Here’s a brief video of our Rug Badger effectively removing stubborn soil and sediments trapped deep in the rug fibres through over 40,000 harmonic vibrations per minute!
-
1. PRE-INSPECTION: (Read More)
- Each rug undergoes a meticulous inspection to identify any pre-existing conditions. Often, soil conceals dye lot variations (abrash), fibre staining, prior dye bleeding, worn areas, or white knots that become noticeable after the wash. Some of these are inherent characteristics of weaving (abrash and white knots), while others can potentially be repaired or reversed.
-
2. DUSTING: (Read More)
- Following the pre-wash inspection, we proceed with thorough dusting. Surprisingly, some rugs can hold up to one pound of dirt per square foot before showing visible signs of dirt. Cleaning a rug with pounds of fine grit and dirt trapped in the foundation creates a muddy situation. Dry dusting is a critical initial step in the wash process to remove ALL the damaging soil. Our Rug Badger, with its over 40,000 harmonic vibrations per minute, effectively vibrates out even the most stubborn soil and sediments deeply embedded in the fibres.
-
3. CLEANING: (Read More)
- We test the dyes of your rug for colorfastness. If the dyes are not colorfast, we prepare the rug by setting the dyes. Next, we proceed with a mild shampoo bath using soft brushes for gentle agitation. The rug is soaked for a specific period, depending on the amount of surface soil that needs to be worked out and rinsed from the fibres. Thorough rinsing with clean water follows before the rug undergoes our centrifuge spinner, which can remove up to 95% of the water.
Our centrifuge spinning machine ensures safe and speedy drying by removing excess water.Drying your rug as quickly as possible minimises the risk of dye migration. With our process, rugs typically dry within hours instead of days.
-
4. PROTECTOR (Read More)
- After the cleaning process, we move on to applying a protector. This barrier coats each fibre, providing protection against re-soiling and staining, making it easier to mop up spills as it prevents the fibre from absorbing them.
-
5. DRYING (Read More)
-
Air movers assist in drying without the need for high heat, ensuring no risk of shrinkage. Our specialised drying room is temperature and humidity controlled to ensure safe and speedy drying of your rugs. During the first wash, it is normal for a rug to shrink slightly (less than an inch), similar to how cotton and wool clothing shrinks during a cold water hand wash. We handle the drying process with care to prevent any such issues.
-
6. FRINGES AND FINISHING: (Read More)
- Fringes are washed again after the bath and then dried. The rug undergoes a final grooming with a horsehair brush before being meticulously wrapped to maintain cleanliness during transit. We then deliver your rug directly to your home and unwrap it for you.
