Victorian Clay Tile Cleaning and Sealing in West Bridgford, Nottingham

Victorian Clay Tile Cleaning & Restoration in Nottingham

If you’re looking for a Victorian Clay Tile cleaner in West Bridgford, Nottingham – then you’ve come to the right place!

The team at Bailey’s Floor Care have just stripped, cleaned, repaired and sealed this Victorian Clay hallway in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Our client was frustrated that he couldn’t keep it clean and lost interest in it. As you can see from out before picture the floor was covered in spots of paint and also glue from where a carpet had been fitted. There was about six tiles that where loose and needed re-bedding and the grout was in a poor condition in certain areas.

So we arrived at 8:30am on day 1 and carried out a full assessment of the floor – boy there was a lot of paint spots. We gave up counting after 40! We decided that the best way to tackle this floor was to apply a paint stripper. So we set about protecting the skirting boards and wooden floors with masking tape, cardboard and plastic sheeting before applying a generous helping of a solvent based paint and seal stripper, allowed it to dwell for about 15 minutes before scrubbing the floor with a machine and a stripping pad whilst feeding a solvent based cleaner on to the floor through the machine. This helped to liquefy the stripper for ease of removal and would also help to clean the floor. We detailed the edges by hand and had to use a scrapper in some areas.

We then gave the floor a deep, hi-pressure rinse using our Truck-mounted machine, which removed all of the yucky slurry from the floor. We then applied a neutral cleaner as the solvent products we had used up to this point were quite strong, which was needed to remove the paint. We scrubbed and rinsed the floor again.

We then lifted a few loose tiles and re-seated them with some tile adhesive before re-grouting the whole floor with a dark grey grout in preparation for the seal.

We removed all the plastic sheeting, cardboard and masking tape and tidied up before heading off home about 4:30pm. Hopefully our client is going to be over the moon with the work we’ve done so far…

Day 2 and we arrive a 8:30am again. Our client has already left for work so good job we have keys! We get set up by thoroughly vacuuming the floor to remove any grit and soil that’s contaminated the floor overnight. We also mask and tape off the areas adjacent to the floor, just to make sure we don’t get any seal in the wrong areas! We’re using Natural Stone Sealer, which is a topical seal – ideal for what our client wants which is a floor that is easy to maintain. Victorian Clay tiles are very absorbent so a topical seal is great at providing a coating that will stop things soaking in and therefore make it easier to keep clean! Natural Stone Sealer also enhances the colours of tile to make it stand out. We build up the seal coat-by-coat, seven coats in total and the floor looks fantastic! Our client was over the moon with what we’ve done. Another great job done.Victorian Tile Cleaning and Sealing in Nottingham - (
