Our team have completed the Church Hall Wood Floor sanding project at Horsley Woodhouse, Derbyshire and have restored the floor back to its former glory. The Church Hall is a busy place and this sad-looking Beech floor was dull and was also showing some minor damage including a worn finish, heel marks and scratches from furniture as well as everyday use.

Our floor sanding team at Bailey’s Floor Care (Jordan, Richard & Chris) took to work and quickly restored the surface by sanding the floor, working to the high standards set out by Pallmanns’ ParkettProffi scheme so no short-cuts taken here!

Here’s how they did it!

The floor is a three-plank beech wood and Richard & Chris started sanding at 40grit to level the floor and remove the old finish as well as all the surface damage from heels and furniture etc. Then, working through the grit levels our floor sanding continued. The team finally got through to a final rotary sand at 120grit leaving the wood floor lovely and smooth… and all with a virtually dust-free sanding process.

The edges and corners were left to the master edger – Jordan. He detailed and cut-in the edges to ensure a seamless finish to the floor sanding part of the restoration in preparation for the finish. This trio has carried out many Church Hall Floor Sanding projects over the years.

Time for the finish

After a good clean-up and packing the kit away in the van it was time to apply the finish. As an approved Pallmanns Parketproffi contractor we prepared the floor for an application of Pallmann’s Magic Oil Ergo, a 2-part solvent-free oil-wax combination with natural oil and waxes that will stop spillages from soaking in and staining the floor.

The great thing about Pallmanns Magic Oil is the cure time. 12 hours… that’s it! It’s a ‘no foot traffic’ for the first 4 hours and then ‘light foot traffic’ for the next 8 hours. So our Sheila could put the floor back in use the following day. This helped to keep the down-time to an absolute minimum for Sheila and brings a close to another Church Hall Floor Sanding project by Bailey’s Floor Care.
