The floor was in a poor state and clearly hadn’t been cared for in a long time. The current owners were restoring the house when they discovered this beauty hidden under a carpet.
This pitch pine floor is laid in whats called a Herringbone style. The floor was uneven, had some loose blocks and there had been some movement on the floor over the years as there was some gaps running the length of the room.
So our wood floor sanding and restoration team set about sanding the floor with a course, 40 grit sanding belt to remove all the old finishes (or what was left of them) and more importantly to level the floor. Once levelled is was then a case of smoothing off the floor up to 80 grit. We then used some of the sawdust that we had collected and mixed it with a resin and used this to fill the gaps in the floor and sanding again through to 120 grit leaving the floor flat, smooth and scratch free.
Then we sealed the floor using Pallmann’s Magic Oil 2k, which is an Oil/Wax finish that leaves the floor with a velvety, matt finish – some say a more natural finish. I’m sure you’ll agree, it looked fantastic!
